A Memorable Journey towards Patna Dairy Project (SUDHA) Patna

The weather today morning was awesome and even the breakfast was so good. What could be an awesome start of the day like this? Even we had a memorable journey to visit Patna Diary Project in the mean while. It was an awesome to be a part of this memorable life experienced with the friends & facilities staffs’ members.

While reaching the Patna Diary Project, Patna Office at the main gate security guard welcomed us, and also politely helped our driver to park the vehicle in the parking slot. The excitement was increasing to enter into the building but somehow due to some enquire purposes we have had to wait for sometimes outside of the machine plant premises. I never wanted to miss any such opportunity so I start capturing the every beautiful moment in my cell phone. While clicking somehow I have observed that the decoration of the plant, trees, flowers plants, Vehicle parking slot, securities in such a way which can’t be ignore.

Finally the long awaited moment has arrived we entered the premises where I found that the two statue of “Dr verghese’ kurien” (The Father of white revolution in India) in the reception hall. Somehow within few minutes we got an opportunity to interact with Mr. “Arvind Kumar Sinha” (Deputy Production Manager). He was so much calm and patiently hearing our every questions and accordingly giving answers without any hesitation which personally admired me a lot.
Our first knowledge interactive conversations started from “Raw Milk Reception talk”. This is the place where all the milk which comes from the outside tankers is collected and goes for the checks in the computerized system. After this process as soon as possible milk send to chill machine to cold it. The time duration of the chill is 5-6 hours but it also depends on the weather. Total 15 workers are working to manage this whole process and on average everyday 50K to 60K lit per day/night  milk pasteurized .

Milk comes here from only 25km of radius in the plant due to safe, pure and secures reaching purposes. Total 19 milk collection centres are in 5 different districts of Bihar namely Nalanda, Patna, Vaishali, Saran and Shekhpura.

Now we moved to next plant of “Cream Extracity"(Butter Churn) here we have seen how the milk pasteurized, mixed and then finally separate in different varieties. In this room there are 7 different sizes of Sylo tankers which capacities are 33000, 35000 & 60000 respectively. Apart we also got to know about Butter making processes and packaging methodology so in this process the ghee melted in boiler at the temp of 125 to 130 degree Celsius.

After the Ghee making processes we moved to Ice Cream section. In this section we got to know about what different ingredients mixes while making an Ice-cream and what level of the temp could be there to maintain the heat capacity not to melt it and then finally it goes to packaging part.
We moved to next section of the plant where I/we got to know about the Lassi/Matta processing and packaging it. Where we got to know about how without the help of any such fermentation finally curd is prepared? Apart in the process every minute 35 to 40 Pcs of curd packet is ready. In the meanwhile we also got to know that due to Lactic Acid Bactria finally curd automatically start preparing.

Now our next destination was “Peda Production”. Where we got to know that there is a mini tank whose capacity to keep the milk is about to 2000 kg. Here they boiled the milk and finally till the thickness process they continued does it and later on mixes the sugar as per the quality of taste. Apart we also got to know about on everyday basis 3 tonnes of milk is condensed to make Peda and finally packaging it and go to the market.

Our last destination of the plant visit was “Powder Processing” in this plant I got to know that around 40 degrees Celsius milk fully boil under vacuum process to convert into the powder.
The moment we all had been waiting since many times to interact with the higher authority of Sudha Diary. Finally we all interacted with two higher authorities (Not remember the name but let’s call them Mr. X & Y). Both gentlemen were so kind hearted but Mr. X was so active in our conversations in comparing with Mr Y. Everything was going well while interacting, at first we all introduced their self then after sometimes we have watched a documentary related to SUDHA Co-operative society and their vision for the rural farmers. Later on we received the “Ice-cream and Peda” as a good gesture from them. The taste was sweet & delicious and my mouth was watering to eat more but somehow I try to control it.

Now the real moment started when everyone were interacting and asking several questions related to Sudha Dairy Project, like as How Co-operative works?, Channel of distribution, customers and its strategies. To know about customer perception and market demand of Sweets. To understand how a project is prepare and how it helps a company in his development and several others. During the conversations Mr. X sir has explained the things in very bold and open manner and even he also explained us the various varieties of Milk. Varieties of Sudha Milk: - 1. SUDHA GOLD Available in 500ml 6.0%FAT, 9.0%S.N.F 2. SUDHA SHAKTI Available in 500ml and 1000ml. Pack 4.5%FAT 8.05% S.N.F 3. SUDHA HEALTHEE Available in 500ml and 1000ml. Pack 3.0% FAT, 8.5% S.N.F. 4. COW MILK Available in 500ml and 1000ml. Pack 4.5% FAT, 9.0% S.N.F.

The conversations were running well and everyone was so excited to ask every single doubt and ultimate finally every got succeed except one (Mr. Divyanshu) as he missed to ask one question as what Sudha Dairy also got any such problems during the Food Scam ?

Finally but not the least I will only say this visit somehow help me to understand the Distribution channel, benefits and problem of supplier. Apart I also came to know about the operation management and inventory policy of the company and finally the time management is very important in perishable product and I learn a lot about from this visit.
